A Fable about Deities.

The Norse Deities that controlled the Scandinavian peoples was the last Caucasian pantheon. After Odin's family deserted their charges for Valhalla, the mortal Norse were forced to use their brains to develop practical means for surviving an over-demanding environment. Eventually, they navigated the known world, owned then relinquished much of it, and over the centuries have become the leading light of modern empires.

Today, in terms of science, art, education, gender equality, and just plain long-lived happiness, the Scandinavians remain top of the tree.

On the other hand, Gods that currently control the vast majority of people are all Deities of Color. Be the religion Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, or Hinduism, the god-figure is male and somewhat melanin-endowed. These gods also are insecure, inefficient fellows who present 'How to Serve Me' instructions which, if disobeyed, can result in gruesome punishments.

Believers of Deities of Color routinely call for divine intervention - almost any startling sight or occurrence, or surprise or accident elicits the cry, "O God!" Believers also make claim of miracles that deliver them from certain catastrophe.

Deniers of such gods laugh and declare, 'It's all nonsense!' And since no Believer can provide a reliable image of a melanin-enhanced (or other) god, this remains a reasonable argument.

Now, with the ubiquity of camera phones, there's hope that the matter will be resolved.

Meanwhile, the godless Norsemen and women are the envy of the world.

Moral: So many gods do spoil the plot.
