A Fable about Financial Foresight

During the recent financial crisis, clever hedge fund manager Deon Johnny anticipated the effects of reckless spending and Big Bank exploitation on the economy. So he prepared for himself a golden parachute that would guarantee him a 'soft landing' on the inevitable down slide.

Indeed, matters proceeded just as he expected, and when the bottom of the market fell out, confident as a trickster, Deon J did a dainty and fearless leap off the dreadful precipice named 'the fiscal cliff.'

But things did not proceed as Deon J had anticipated.

Money smart but no alchemist, Deon Johnny had not considered that his financial safety net was composed entirely of gold, Au, a rather weighty metal. Thus without crucial buoyancy apparatus to provide descent control, Deon and his golden parachute, at a rate of thirty-two feet per second per second, just plummeted down towards hard rocks of Reality.

Upon the violent collision, Deon Johnny departed this life too rapidly for consternation.

Moral: Flotation devices should not be gilded.
