A Fable about Resurrection

Dependent on the poll quoted, Their earthly absence had lasted millennia and caused disinterest in Gods to drizzle a mighty ennui upon the land.

On the watchful screens of Those-in-Charge-of-Everything (TiCoE), the situation created a blip of consternation. Should such an attitude persist, They realized, it would be a finish for Them. To all for which They qualified.

What then would be Their future? What else could They do?

Mightily stirred by this terrible comprehension, despite their normal dilettante dispositions, TiCoE displayed an admirable initiative.

Circumstances interpreted as 'Evidences of Deity' began turning up all over the U S of A. Within the blink of a century, from stormy Atlantic to blue Pacific, from cold and pristine North to deep and complex South, there appeared about the American land genuine idols.

These divine men and women bore memorable monikers like 'Magic' and 'The Greatest', and 'Angela D' and 'M L K jr., and 'Nora Zeale' and 'Langston', and 'Garret T' and 'Washington C', and most recently, a sublime stand alone named, 'Tiger'.

To august observers in this proud nation-despite being deemed 'Great Satan' by some, and a 'New Babylon' by others-it seemed that the Homeland's 'soul' has been revitalized. Best selling T-shirts of faithful throngs now proclaim, "ALMIGHTY is BACK!"

Of course, the indolent TiCoE are again at ease.

Moral: Among Better Sorts, anxiety inspires ingenuity.
